Do They Take Us For Fools?

There is a Labour Party leaflet which was posted through some of your letter boxes.

It claims that far from being highly unpopular their hated “two bag rule”, policed by the sinister sounding “education and enforcement” officers, is actually what YOU wanted.

They claim that during the public consultation on the matter the majority of those who completed the survey chose that option therefore, they are only doing what YOU wanted.

They fail to mention that the consultation was a sham. It had limited unpopular options that led people to the two bag proposal because it was the least worse option.

To now claim it’s what WE wanted is twisting the truth in a desperate attempt to cling onto power.

They take us for fools!

Independent candidates standing together as Change for Bridgend have independent views but we are all united in our frustration that our voices are not being heard and that BCBC are not listening to YOU.

They know best, they do what they want and when they do consult they interpret the outcome to suit their agenda.

It’s time to change that!

We accept that running a unitary authority means making difficult decisions and what’s popular is not always possible or affordable.

However, if we are in a position to lead BCBC then we promise to mean it when we say we’ll listen to you. When we consult we will make sure that you all have your say.

Consultation should not be a hoop to jump through or hurdle to overcome.  It should be a meaningful process that shapes the services we receive.

Where options are offered they shall be meaningful and thought out. We will be open to alternative suggestions from you, the residents of OUR borough.

We cannot please all of the people all of the time but we won’t blame YOU for our mistakes! We will explain our actions.

The time for arrogance, spin and an out of touch “we know best” attitude has passed.

To say that the ‘two bag’ was what the people ‘wanted’ is ridiculous. For the majority that option was the least worse one.

You are absolutely correct on the so called “consultation”. And BCBC know it! What a joke.
