I am standing as a Community Councillor for Coity in the local elections on May 4th.
I am completely independent and have never belonged to a political party. I’m not interested in politics, only for the good of the residents of Coity as a whole.
I have lived in Coity with my husband for the last 15 years and my children were educated in Coety Junior School.
I have worked in Corporate Finance for over 20 years, predominantly for the Big 4 firms and I’m sure that I can bring some of that experience to resolve some of the issues that are affecting us locally.
I am a co-founder of Coity Festivals, an organisation that was set up to combine raising money for charity whilst holding fun events in the village such as the Jam in the Castle music festival, Spirits in the Castle and the Easter Egg Hunt. We have also held music events in the Six Bells, Christmas quizzes and last summer hosted the first village Sports Day.
I work closely with Martin Williams, a recently elected Community Councillor, through Coity Festivals, and we share similar goals for the village.
I know that I will achieve much more with a colleague that shares my hopes and aspirations for Coity.
I’ve decided to stand for election as I feel that a fresh approach is required to local government. Coity has grown massively since I first moved in and has brought with it problems that are being ignored by the existing Councillors.
I’ve had very little response when trying to get matters resolved that affect me and my family therefore I feel that it’s time to get involved myself.
I know what is relevant to families in 2017 and it’s about time that these issues were resolved. I’d be grateful for your vote on May 4th, and promise to work hard to improve the matters that affect us all on a daily basis .
