BCBC have finally done the right thing and made a goodwill payment to the young man that they so badly let down when they failed to adequately monitor his savings whilst he was in foster care.
It is also welcome that they have recognised the importance of abiding by the request of the ombudsman.
However, it is regrettable that public pressure forced this u-turn.
BCBC let this young man down badly twice. Firstly when they failed to properly oversee his savings and secondly by forcing him to go public to shame them into making this payment.
We look forward to a new administration after the local government elections on 4th May who will show courage and leadership to make the correct decisions at the right time.
